Educational Background: Dr. Strickland is a 2020 graduate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her first 3 years of school on island at Ross University and then completed her clinical year at the University of Illinois. She was a member of Ross University’s Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medicine Association all four years of veterinary school. She was also an active member of the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) her entirety of veterinary school. Dr. Strickland received her Bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in public health from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.
Pets: Dr. Strickland currently does not have any pets, but she grew up in a house full of pets and loved every minute of it.
About Me: Dr. Strickland is originally from Peru, IL. She enjoys hiking at Starved Rock State Park, reading, and baking. She loves traveling and even lived in St. Kitts in the Caribbean for 3 years while completing the first portion of veterinary school. Her other favorite trip was when she visited Nicaragua in undergrad on a pre-veterinary trip where they received hands on experience treating large and small animals. Dr. Strickland’s favorite place to travel is the happiest place on earth, Disney World.
Special Interests: Dr. Strickland is interested in soft tissue surgery. She also enjoys interpreting radiographs and diagnostic ultrasound. In the future, Dr. Strickland would like to gain more experience with physical rehabilitation as well.
Fun Fact: She lived in the Caribbean for 3 years through 2 category 5 hurricanes.
Favorite Thing About My Job: Dr. Strickland enjoys solving puzzles so making diagnoses and successfully treating patients is her favorite thing. She is also excited for the bonds that she will get to form with clients in the future as their job in treating their pet is just as important as ours. Dr. Strickland enjoys educating people and is looking forward to having conversations with clients about their beloved pets.
